A 33-year-old man was at the late hours of yesterday, stabbed to death while attempting to separate fight between husband and wife in Awedele area of Ekiti State.
The deceased, Abiloye Seun Dayo, was sent to an untimely grave during a scuffle between one Kolawole Oguntoyinbo and his wife at Awedele, at about 10:30pm
Reporters gathered that the deceased was allegedly forced to intervene after hours of intense fights and arguments between the married couple. While separating the duo, investigations revealed that Kolawole, who was armed with a knife, allegedly stabbed Abioye in an attempt to stab his wife.
However, it was learnt that Abioye died in the process of being rushed to a nearby hospital.
A resident of the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Abioye had no relationship with Kolawole’s wife, but played the role of a peacemaker between Kolawole and his wife when they were fighting, adding that he was killed in the process.
He said “Abioye only wanted to make peace before he died as a result of the knife stabbing by Kolawole”
Our reporters gathered that Abioye’s corpse has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy, while the suspect had been transferred to Ekiti state police command for discreet investigation.
