
Lawmaker representing Àkókó North West Const 1, Hon Jamiu Maito has condemned the abduction and attack on Oba Clement Jimoh Olukotun, the Oloso of Oso-Ajowa describing it as an attack on the entire traditional institution in Ondo State.
Suspected kidnappers had earlier attacked the palace of the Monarch on the 1st of Dec 2022, whisking away the Oloso of Oso-Ajowa, in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Clement Jimoh Olukotun after shooting sporadically at the palace and its environs.
Reacting to the attack, Hon Maito said;
“This attack on the revered traditional ruler marks a watershed in the dark history of the planned agenda targeted at depriving our people of the God-given freedom we have enjoyed for centuries in our land of inheritance.
“I, therefore, condemn this dastardly act in the strongest terms possible.
“This is considered an attack on the entire traditional institution of Àkókó & Ondo people.
Hon Jamiu Maito asked the police & Amotekun corps to spread its dragnets all over the state, most especially in Akoko, due to its proximity with neighboring state (Kogi).
However, the Police command’s spokesperson, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the abduction of Oba Olukotun, said the tactical squad of the command had been deployed to the location.
The police spokesperson also said an investigation into the abduction had begun.
“It is true the traditional was kidnapped but an investigation has since been launched. However, police from the Divisional Police headquarters at Oke-Agbe, headquarters of Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State, have been deployed in the town to launch an investigation into the incident,” she said.
