The wife of the Ondo state Governor, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has unveiled Ondo Summer Tennis Clinic for the Children between ages 4-13 in the state.
This year’s edition (4th edition) is expected to kick off on the 13th of September and end on the 18th of September, 2021 at the Ondo State Sport Complex in Akure.
During a press briefing yesterday, the coordinator of the Summer Tennis Clinic, Mr Seun Betiku, said the initiative conceived in 2017 has already produced professional athletes and the Summer Tennis Clinic will continue to lay the foundation for the discovery of talents.
He noted that the Tennis Clinic is essentially conceived to integrate sports and education in a sustainable social forum and is strategically billed to be sponsored by corporate organizations and personalities who have passion for tennis and other related sporting activities in Ondo State and Beyond.
“This clinic is essential to identify and develop talents in our children. It is important to encourage sports development among youths in the state, particularly at the grassroot level in order to discover and develop potentials and skills of the young ones who are capable of becoming champions.
“The benefits of catching our youths young, especially in sports cannot be over-emphasized. Let us look at champions like Venue and Serena Williams, who started as young as age three(3) and have gone on to win numerous awards. Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Billie Jean king just to mention a few.”, he stressed.
The Clinic is specifically designed for Children between the ages of 4-13 years old. Interested Participants are to visit the Ondo State Sport Council for more details about the Registration, Enrollment and other enquiries.
