Member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal constituency at the green chambers, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye [Small Alhaji], yesterday, presented cash support to women in Idanre local government area of Ondo State.
Speaking at the ceremony, Small Alhaji said he will continue to protect the interest of the people of his constituency.
He said the empowerment was a critical element in the effort to improve their standard of living as well as to fight against poverty.
He stressed that people can only be happy and fulfilled when value is added to their lives by way of providing self-sustaining incentives to boost their productivity and to enable them meet their basic needs and those of their immediate relations.
Justifying his commitment to his constituents, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye said “I feel much fulfilled that today, I’m delivering part of democracy dividends to my constituents, which I promised two years ago. For me, this only shows that my people need more and we will continue to strive to make things better.”
Giving what looked like his scorecards in the last two years, Small Alhaji said: “As a representative of the people in the House of Representatives, made possible by their cherished mandate, I have continued to strive towards making our people feel the impact of representative democracy, thereby putting smiles on their faces.
“No doubt, that is what we promised them, but that is also what democracy is all about.
“The people have remained the focal point in all my activities and actions as their representative; and with all sense of responsibility, I have been committed to empowering, developing and uplifting the standard of living of our people through robust representation.
Recall that Small Alhaji, while seeking the mandate of the people during campaign, promised to support the market women and traders with cash support to boost their businesses, while adding that most credit institutions charge high interest rates with unfavorable conditions.
“This modest effort in ameliorating the plight of our people is one in the series of other interventions geared towards making life easier for the poor in our midst” he added.
