The Speaker of Ondo State Youth Parliament Rt. Hon. Smith Ikumapayi has called on the young citizens of the state to shun all acts of violence as they celebrate Democracy day.
Ikumapayi made the call while speaking with news men on Saturday morning in an interview on the proposed June 12 protest across the federation.
“I want to call on the good people of Ondo State, especially the young citizens to celebrate this year’s democracy day peacefully and shun all acts that can trigger violence anywhere in the state.”
“While I agree that citizens have right to protest, we can not forget in a hurry the aftermath of #Endsars protest on our economy and social life. The protest was hijacked by hoodlums, properties worth millions vandalised and hundreds of people including civilian and police were killed”
Ikumapayi further urge the youths to mobilise towards the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise which will commence later in the month.
“Rather than mobilising people to the street, I will advice that we should be prepared to mobilise the young people for continuous voters registration which will commence by the end of the month as it will afford us the opportunity to choose our leaders through the ballot.”
