Confusion As South Africa Bans Alcohol As Coronavirus Cases Increase

President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa has announced reinforcement of night curfew as cases of coronavirus increase in the country.

Ramaphosa on Sunday announced that as from July 13th, there would be a night curfew from 9pm-4am.

He also extended the national

“state of disaster” until Aug. 12.

“We are now recording well over 12,000 cases every day,”

He said.

He further made wearing of face masks compulsory, adding that too many South Africans were now relaxing after restrictions were eased.

“Also face masks will be compulsory in public places and a ban on the sale of alcohol will be reintroduced,”

Ramaphosa said in a Sunday evening address to the nation.

As of Sunday, South Africa has recorded 276,242 coronavirus cases.

The nationwide lockdown were gradually eased in May and June which has been met with daily records of Coronavirus cases.
