Former Nigerian vice president and presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the 2019 general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has apparently not been truthful to the public over the condition of his son.
That Alhaji Atiku made known to Nigerians that his son is tested positive for the currently ravaging disease is not a cheery news from him.
But it is more debilitating to know that Atiku’s son had been in Nigeria with the virus for more than ten days without self- isolating or submitting himself to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control for early test.
Report had it that his son had returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom where the pandemic has been ravaging like a volcano over ten days earlier.
He was allegedly told to go for self isolation but he refused. He was also advised to release himself to the Federal ministry of health and NCDC for testing to ascertain his status but trashed the suggestion.
A reliable source disclosed that in the last ten days of his return, he has socialised and mingled with people in federal capital territory.
He was said to have been at the Play lounge in Wuse 2, Abuja. He was also claimed to have clubbed with friends and associates till late on Friday. He was at the mosque for Jumaat service same day.
Those who were at these various locations on Friday are obviously in contact with the former vice president’s son and are definitely in their hundreds of number.
All through these period, his father, Atiku Abubakar never deemed it fit to exert pressure on him to do the right thing or alerted the NCDC to wade into his case matter.
It took the neighbors in his estate to alert the security operatives and NCDC officials before he could be forcefully evacuated to Gwagwalada teaching hospital where he was finally confirmed to have been tested positive for the coronavirus.
For Atiku Abubakar to be tweeting nearly fifteen days after the return of his son to Nigeria that he is now tested positive for coronavirus is a sheer disservice to the nation. He is never forthright and sincere to Nigerians.
Those who are hailing and cheering Atiku for coming out to announce the status of his son are not also doing good to the nation. They are simply being unpatriotic and untruthful to the ex-vice president.
His son ordeal will not doubt give birth to hundreds of other cases if not thousands in the nearest future.
Atiku Abubakar practically misled Nigerians about his son’s status on Coronavirus. He has brought more trouble to the country for keeping quiet when he needed to speak up
