Vice President Of Akoko Youth Forum, Comrade Ife Ajibuwa has reacted to the viral Covid-19 Pandemic, admonishing Akoko Indigenes to stay calm and adhere strictly to the warnings made by the State Government.
This was obtained in a communique released by his Media Aide, Aminu Abiola which reads:
AKOKO YOUTH FORUM(AYF)
OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT,
Our people of Akoko land, it is no longer a news that the Coronavirus(Covid_19) epidemic has caused great panic to the World, Nigeria, and Ondo State, our state is not an exception. This global situation gave room for this unprecedented impromptu press statement since it is pertinent that Akoko Youth Forum,( an organization that encompasses all the youths across all the four local governments of Akoko Land) addresses her people in this trial period.
Firstly, we should be rest assured that there is no cause for alarm. The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu( SAN) said, hitherto, that no case(s) of death have been recorded so far as a result of this Covid-19 pandemic.
Thankfully, no case(s) of this virus has been recorded in Akoko Land. However, we need to be fully prepared.
Prevention, they say is better than cure_
Our people should be informed in order not to be deformed. We have come to appeal to the good people of Akoko Land to adhere strictly to the directives and instructions which the state government has put in place in order to curtail this undesirable occurrence.
Akoko is a metropolitan settlement with a vulnerable population. We must try as much as possible to engage in proper hygiene and embrace solidarity at all times.
We realize how our people are trying all possible measures to prevent our community from an unwanted impasse. Hence, the use of hand sanitizers, and Nose masks (when necessary), should not be underated. Washing of hands regularly, avoidance of large gathering, et al, should be duly complied with.
We also want to appreciate the State Governor for the quick and proactive measures adopted in order to squach this unsolicited contagion, and his comprehensive blended strategy for controlling the epidemics and pushing this deadly virus back.
Finally, we seize this medium to appeal to all and sundry to desist from spreading false and harzardous claims. It is required of us to verify any information before posting on social media, else, we tend to wittingly expose our loved ones to a flood of conspiracy theories, hoaxes and falsehoods that could mislead or even harm them.
Let us continue to follow heartwarming examples of mutual aid and solidarity.
We have survived. We have been surviving. We shall survive.
I thank you.
Chief Press Secretary to Vice President
(Comr Aminu Abiola).
