THE Ondo State Executive Council has approved the construction of 7.35 kilometres Orita Obele -Ire Akari – Oke Odu – Ipinsa roads in Akure South Local Government Area.

The council also approved the rehabilitation of Maronu – Ondo road and Atibiti roads – all in Akure, the state capital.

Commissioner for Information and Orientation Donald Ojogo, who addressed reporters on the outcome of the state’s executive meeting, said the approvals for the road projects were in continuation of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s determination to make life comfortable for the people.

Also, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi, announced that the council approved the appointment of Prince Segun Akinyemi as the Amapetu-elect of Mahin Kingdom, having scored the highest number of votes among the kingmakers.

Similarly, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Dr. Wunmi Egbayelo, added that the council has approved the takeover, in principle, of Bethel College of Education by Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.

She explained that the takeover would close up the infrastructural gap in Adekunle Ajasin University, as the new facility can be used for pre-degree programmes.
