It’s no longer a fresh news that students of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko Ondo State have put to the street of Akure, the capital city of Ondo state and some other places like Lagos, Ondo town, Owo etc. following the increase of their school fees from 35,000 naira to 200,000 naira and the protests and demonstrations have been very peaceful all along.
A very peaceful one was held at Ikare Akoko today.
In a chat with one of the students, he said:
“the protest went successfully, we first started at the main entrance of Olukare palace, which some set of chiefs advised us to make everything in a peaceful way, which the Nigeria police also gave a massive support to us, no harm to fight”
“we went to IKARE high court, which they told us to have a lot of patience, also went to the Town Local government (Akoko North East Local Government Secretariat), which the Chairman also advised us to stay calm, that they are working towards the school fee hike”
In a chat with another female student, she said:
“It was very perfect, no violence, no chaos, nothing like quarrel. We thank God for the successful protest and I pray with what we did today, God should touch the heart of Gov. Akeredolu so as to reduce the huge fee he asked us to pay.”
